The ceramic bearings in this model have been coated with a special treatment to further reduce friction and increase protection from wear and tear. A thin coating is also applied to the bearing races, to increase corrosion resistance.Shimano Specific Pulley WheelsBecause of the design of the 9100 series derailleurs, the R&D team at CeramicSpeed tested and concluded that the best performing combination of oversized pulleys for the Shimano 9100 series is a 13-tooth upper and 19-tooth lower pulley. The design of this Shimano-specific OSPW System is very strong and stiff to ensure a high durability factor.
