Description
Red Wine by Eric Kent from Carneros, California. Drawing on the experience of our 5 previous vintages with this distinctive vineyard, Eric Kent feels like they’ve completely dialed in the winemaking particulars with Las Madres and understand not only how to handle it but how not to. And when the 2015 fruit came in fully ripe at reasonable sugar levels it set the stage for one of their favorite vintages yet. The signature exotic, spicy character of the vineyard shines and combines with a silkier, more elegant Syrah. his year, for the first time, they also employed the old-world technique of co-fermenting the fruit with some Viognier, taking the floral aromatics to even new heights and taming the fine tannins even more than usual. Achieving a lovely balance between the dark fruit components and the olive, spice, chocolate and smoke elements we treasure from this cooler-climate vineyard, it will be massively compelling on release, but will offer tremendous rewards over the decade that follows.
