The design has been honed in the HJC wind tunnel to be as streamlined as possible, while weight, ventilation and comfort are all superbly refined too. Light. But Protective.Putting on the Atara Helmet you’ll soon notice the weight. Or rather the lack of it. Despite being the entry to HJC’s cycle helmet range, it weighs very little, coming in at a mere 210 grams. But don’t think it’s a delicate beast. On the contrary, it’s been designed to be incredibly protective as well as light. The sleek construction sees a tough and durable outer moulded to an impact-absorbing EPS core. The polycarbonate outer adds structural integrity and strength while the foam inner provides protection from impacts.Go With the FlowJust like the high-end helmets, the Atara has been developed and refined in HJC’s own wind tunnel facility. This has resulted in a design with smooth airflow, minimising drag as you pick up speed. Airflow into the helmet has also been optimised. Using pressure difference between the front and rear of the helmet, air is actively drawn inside, circulates through the helmet and exits through the rear exhaust vents. This dissipates the heat you build-up, cools your head and boosts comfort on the bike.The fit is also quickly and easily dialled in – quite literally dialled in, thanks to the twist-dial adjustment on the back of the occipital cradle. This system holds the helmet firmly in place, important for both safety and comfort. Comfort is further enhanced via the antibacterial X-Static pads. These wick away sweat from your skin to prevent discomfort.
