Description
White Wine by Francois Pinon from Loire, France – regions. In 2016, Vouvray was hit by both frost and hail, and many estates suffered excruciating losses in the vineyard. As they did in 2013 when confronted by similar losses, Pinon chose to blend all of their terroirs together into a single wine. ‘Le 2016’ is a blend of fruit from the Trois Argiles, Silex, Noir and Les Deronnieres parcels and possesses a stunning diversity of aromatics from these different terroirs. The more delicate aromatics of lime blossom and pear are balanced by a core of dried white peach, confit lemon, and honey. Though technically a demi-sec, the firm acidity balances out the 22g/L of residual sugar to make a complete wine. As with the best Chenin Blancs (particularly Vouvrays) this bottle can age for decades, though it’s drinking beautifully now.
