Description
Red Wine by Ghostwriter from Santa Cruz Mountains, California. They kind of fell into making a Syrah. For years, they walked through the 1/3 of an acre Syrah block at Smith Road while looking at their Pinot Noir, but wasn’t overly interested in making Syrah. In 2014, a deal was made with Steve Remde, the owner to take the fruit for that year and graft the vines over to something else in 2015. That was the plan until the Syrah turned out so well, becoming one of their favorite wines from the 2014 vintage. So now, the Ghostwriter makes a small production of Santa Cruz Syrah. The 2015 was fermented without added yeast employing 75% whole clusters then aged in a combination of French barrels and puncheons for 19 months.
