Description
Red Wine by Schug from Carneros, California. From an iconic California winemaker’s final vintage, this once-in-a-lifetime offering is the epitome of the world-class Pinot Noir that could only be crafted by Walter Schug. Originating entirely from Schug Carneros Estate Winery’s vineyard in Carneros, this barrel commemorates the passing of Walter Schug, a winemaker whose impact on Californian Pinot Noir – and the industry as a whole- cannot be overstated. Sourced from Block 8, the fruit is a UC Davis 12 Pommard Clone (‘old Pommard’) planted in 1989. These are the estate’s oldest vines. Wines made from these revered vines are reserved for Schug’s estate bottling every year after spending 18 months in French oak barrels. You’ll find a bouquet reminiscent of roses, ripe cherres, and spice, that leads to rich flavors of black cherry and plum, all finishing with hints of tobacco and spicy new oak. This wine is perfect for the collector’s cellar, and will continue to age gracefully for up to 10 years.
